2021 Wrapped
As we head into 2022, we're taking stock of the last twelve months during which we launched Tusen Takk's artist-in-residence program. We're pleased to have hosted an incredible group of people in 2021; a short roundup of their work is below.
A Christmas Message
It is not strange that all cultures have stories to explain how creation was Divinely made. Artists tap into this deeply-held human understanding, drawing from its well the talents, dedication, care, and concern for creating things that are good. In doing so, they participate in the Divine’s creative nature.
Building A Confluence: The Photography Collection at Tusen Takk
Artists don’t operate in a vacuum. We build on the shoulders of those who came before us and those working along side us. That’s the way it’s meant to be if you’re interested in making things that have a certain quality. This ever-growing collection of images is here as a resource for Tusen Takk’s guest artists to help them in their efforts to make the intangible tangible.

A Christmas Response
In short, the building of Tusen Takk’s was a response to an event that ushered in an outpouring of love which the world is still struggling to come to terms with. It’s a love that’s so radical and regenerative that it breathes the deepest meaning and purpose into life.
From the Heart
With Thanksgiving Day four days away and the wind howling off Lake Michigan this morning, I am counting my blessings. Tusen Takk is a place for such reflection.
On the Inside Colors
Marks are ok! I want [the workbenches] to be marred, to have ink stains on it. That’s part of Tusen Takk’s ethos, a visible reminder that this is a making place.
On the Outside Colors
But in the end, all of the color choices were made on what seemed right, the hue and saturation that fit that specific material on that specific surface in that specific location.
