The Tusen Takk Channel is pleased to present an exhibition of takuhon-inspired work created at Tusen Takk by alumni artist-in-residence Nishiki Sugawara-Beda, ink rubbings that incorporate the land in myriad ways.

The Tusen Takk Channel and Alluvion Arts @ 414 presented Vessel of Soundless Sound, a series of paintings, installations, and wall-mounted sculptures by Tusen Takk alumni Ahavani Mullen.

Titled after a passage in Arctic Dreams by Barry Lopez, Fallen Pieces of the Moon featured woodcut prints by alumni Debra Salopek. Inspired by Lopez’s perceptions of Arctic icebergs, Salopek offered her own poetic interpretations of the icebergs here on our Great Lakes.

An exhibition of work by 2022 artist-in-residence Ahavani Mullen was on view at the Dennos Museum Center in Traverse City. In four large-scale paintings, Mullen explores the ways in which subtle, ephemeral vibrations can be given form on a canvas, using energetically-charged paint to create fields of color, light, and texture.

An exhibition of photogravure prints from 2022-23 artist-in-residence Juan Giraldo’s series Of Late, A Letter to Paterson, on view at Commongrounds.

This exhibition displayed handmade photography books at the Traverse Area District Library by 2022 artists-in-residence Barbara Bosworth and Emily Sheffer, who produce books under the publishing imprint Dust Collective.

Artist Spotlight: Jinwon Chang was on view at Traverse City’s Dennos Museum Center and showcased work created by Chang during his 2021 residency at Tusen Takk.
